Accelerating Progress To End Child Marriage Arua and Terego Districts
MEMPROW today successfully launched the “Accelerating Progress To End Child Marriage”. The scale of child marriage is huge in Westnile and especially in Arua City & Terego District. According to the participants, up to 500 girls are currently at risk of becoming child brides. The conclusion was that if we act to prevent child marriage now, we could dramatically improve the maternal and child health outcomes for millions of girls and women. The stakeholders committed to supporting MEMPROW’s work and we look forward to a successful implementation journey.
The Launch was graced by the Resident City Commissioner Arua City, the Regional Police Commander, The District Police Commander, the Head of Child and Family Protection Unity, The police Spokes Person, The District Community Development Officer, The District Gender Officer, The Senior Probation Officer, Area Councillors of Arua Central, Omugo, Uriema and Odupi and Members of the Press.
